Products manufactured at the Amazing Gallery:
Japanese-style chopsticks and chopstick holders
The Dutchman Philipp Franz von Siebold, who arrived in Japan in 1823, praised the Japanese people for what he perceived as a globally rare talent for turning utensils into works of art.
From the age a Japanese learns to use chopsticks by him- or herself, he or she spends on average 70 further years using these chopsticks three times a day, which amounts to a total of 76,650 times.
At Amazing Gallery, we focus on chopsticks, which perhaps make up the quintessential and most often used everyday good in the lives of the Japanese. To express this deep connection, we refer to our products as ‘Japanese-style chopsticks’.
They are exclusively made from 100% natural materials and there is always a playful twist to their design. In manufacturing them, Japanese wood-manufacturing and urushi techniques are applied.
Uniformity is not a goal; instead, it is our concept for every hand-manufactured piece to be unique.
A wide variety of precious woods is used to manufacture chopsticks and chopstick holders differing with regard to the wood used, length, weight, thickness, shape and decoration, ensuring that every customer will find a piece to his or her liking suitable to be used for many years to come.
The pieces are also intended for our international visitors as little souvenirs expressing the essence of Japanese culture, which are, literally, easy to pick up and take home.
We also offer repair and maintenance services, so don’t be afraid to regularly use your precious utensils in your everyday life.
